Not too long and we had breakfasted (had my first Guava juice which I love ) and hit the road. The intention was to aim for the coast and go north to hit Santa Barbara mid day and see Craig and Lorraine.
I lead us on a crazy route trying to stay near water and we happened upon a crazy accident with a guy in cuffs and a cop car up on a hydrant with water everywhere
after much meandering we arrived at Craig and Lorraine’s and also met their son Matt and his girlfriend Mia. I was caught off guard by his handshake. It was solid and strong, something I had become unfamiliar with as it is not the norm anymore. I really didn’t have time to react in a like manner before Mia offered hers and I was pleased to be able to respond in kind as she also has a firm, almost crushing grip. She said she liked my handshake and I acknowledged hers. I believe it was a meeting of like minds in many ways. My father always said you could tell a man by his handshake and I have met some dead fish along the way. Couldn’t say that about either of these fine folk.
Craig and Lorraine took us into town after a nice lunch and we wandered for hours down a street with a market in the middle and many interesting stores along the way
Gone With The Wind premiered here!
this project impresses me, seismic upgrade while retaining old facade.
only 240 Km today to end up with great people and a fabulous meal of tritips(?)
we sat
with the ‘grow ups’ at one end of the table looking at photos and the ‘kids’ at the other end discussing Johnny Depp and John Waters movies. All in all very enjoyable and makes me wonder if I am really going to leave in the morning as planned….
