Just another day in the life

06-11-21 Bearded Iris

June 11, 2021

Simply planted before Covid, before winter blanketed 2019, before we knew what was to come. Out of the dirt and darkness and cold, two winters and a long summer.. life overcame it all and like a promise long kept, burst forth from the lips of the earth. A bulb planted is dependent on hope, like planting trees you won’t see the shade of in your lifetime. To see it bloom lifts the spirit and reminds your soul to give yourself future gifts, invest in what is to come. There is no pain in growing things. Not all plants break forth into joy but when they do, there is no comparison. I need to weed and mow and rake up the blown down branches but there is still happiness walking into my yard. I thank my plants for growing in spite of my care or lack thereof.

My house, now that is something I need to spend some time on. My house plants are thriving, except the one that has turned into modern art, petrified branches rising out of the corner, reminding me that it is time to let go. The layer of dust and piles of projects clutter my space and my mind. I will try to gather my gumption to take care of it all tomorrow. I will try…
