I admit to barely making it to the office in time to get payroll run before a client meeting. It had snowed so everything was pretty out and it is still so typically light that I was able to sweep it away with my corn broom. Snow brings me joy, not going to lie.
I did have a complicated multitasking day what with client work, FPPAS books and VIMF continuing updates. I am thrilled to already have 22 of 70 committed this early in the year. That usually means that they have booked vacation and planned for it. The 5 that said no so far all had very good reasons/other commitments. I have enlisted Ashlée to help me pull together the best crews as she has more experience with the lock-up/schlepper crews first hand and remembers names and faces. After all these years.. it is still my anxiety arriving there, that I will offend someone by not saying their name when I first see them.
I stopped at Encore at 6 to have a quesadilla before heading to the Rotary Gala planning meeting at the Chamber of Commerce board room. There were over 20 of us there and Bill Bennett and Laura Kennedy ran the agenda. It was pretty impressive how it all went. We covered a lot of territory and were out before 9. I was glad to be asked my opinion and have things to offer. The gala is on the 27th of April and the theme is Moulin Rouge. It will be at the Colombo Lodge and the chef, Jim, was there to give the menu options. We then went around the room and gave our opinion. I brought up that I always want to be inclusive and that in our demographic Pork would be exclusive to many, as well as lamb. The fancy stuffed chicken presented beautifully and would fit more diet restrictions. It was very well received and I appreciated being asked. It will be a 5 course meal, special drinks and decor, silent and live auction and entertainment for $150. I will have to be there, as a volunteer, and participant.
I was thrilled yesterday when Lallah called to invite me to join a large group of couples going for dinner at Fire & Oak and to see Jesus Christ Superstar on Friday night. One of the husbands can’t make it and they thought of me! I may have finally found my pod here in Cranbrook. So far, every one I have met and interacted with there is of a similar mindset and I look forward to doing what I can. There is one lovely man who I see regularly at events I am volunteering at. I was told that he list his wife about 6 years ago and that is his social life. We have had lovely conversations and although he may be quite a bit older that I am, I may see if he wants company to some events in the future. It is good to have a companion to share interests with.
I scanned my lotto and stopped on the way home to get my 84.50! That was a good win on 649
