The snow was all gone this morning, barely a memory. I went into the office for a very short time to make some payments and then picked up the piece of linoleum donated from affordable floors for our gala decor and headed to the Rotary luncheon. The speakers today were Brenna and Stephanie about Cranbrook Burger month. It was a highly amusing presentation as Steph warned us to ‘buckle up’ and then made a comment at one point that when the pandemic hit and an opportunity came to keep her work at the fire hall she said, of course I want to work. I need to make money. My feet aren’t pretty enough. I’m not sure how many people in that room even knew what she was talking about but I let out a big guffaw that’s for sure.
After the meeting Nadine MaryAnn and I all went to the storage locker and rearrange things into the order that we had previously and ready things for taking to the gala. The space is quite amazing now.
Back at the office, I filed a complicated tax return for a nonresident before heading for a bite to eat at F&B to be met by a new bartender, Nick. He seems nice enough. He’s just very young and I think that one of the servers has the hots for him.
From there, I went to the elevator grand opening at Key City Theatre. I was a lovely little soirée and I had nice visits. I took a fun picture of Dennis Walker from the radio station, local photographer, Brian Clarkson, and newspaper photographer Trevor Crawley.
The ladies and I were first up the elevator after the dignitaries. And on the ride down by myself, the door is open to find me photo bombing a picture of the board in front of the doors. Everyone had a good laugh.
Monica, Zoey, Kristen
The Weber Brothers, whom I follow on Facebook, put out a post asking for pictures of mothers and sons. I posted two of my favourites and when I posted the first one I put the comment that he said I looked like a princess and they almost immediately responded He’s right! That was very sweet
Well, if variety is the spice of life, my life is very spicy. Today I was in and out of office, at a rotary board meeting, picked up gala items, bought a shelf of marketplace that lady brought in from Moyie (pretty good deal for only $15.), filed my first tax returns of the season, came out of work to big fluffy snow, and rebuilt an entire Star Wars Lego set. There are still a couple of pieces off to add to it when I come across them, but they were so tiny and I needed to move on.
Ashley’s new shirt!Is it a boat or a true RV?Time changed
I also can’t believe it’s been six years already since the pandemic was declared six years today
Last Thursday I lost an earring that Rae gave me for Christmas and today someone found it and returned it to me.
My burger for burger month was not great…
Will called that he was hired at Heidout and starts tomorrow. I had set that interview up for him and he impressed them. He did put me in a position though as he told me that if I mentioned him in my blog he had to make his mom cookies and if not she had to make them for him. I stopped at their house after picking up Moms pills and dropping them off. I ended up staying for dinner which was delicious. We had a good laugh and I decided they just both had to make cookies for me.
Once home I did a couple Lego sets and watched The Voice and RJ Decker. I am going to try to sleep now
I’ve been watching more of season one of Fallout and it has me so tense. I am not usually into horror. Well, except my Stephen King collection that is. This is so well done and I am not sure I should watch it before trying to sleep.
I experimented with the edible glitter and champagne. Looks good
I did get chores done and then sorted Lego into the new drawer set and worked on rebuilds. Some are still incomplete as I need missing bits but quite a few are now done
It was a nice way to spend a windy rainy Sunday while watching the rest of the season of Shrinking and then continuing on to Slow Horses.
After getting some chores done around the house this morning, I headed out to take care of some gala follow ups. First stop was meeting with my cousin Kevin at Affordable Floors Ltd. Hey generously donated the black-and-white flooring for the entryway. It was good to hear that his wife Becky is doing well having had a bulged disc pushed back into place.
After that, I hit up Home Depot and Home hardware and Walmart. I took pictures of Astroturf and prices and paint, etc. and sent to our group text with the ideas I had. I did buy a pretty plant at Home Depot. It comes in a glass bowl and is hydroponic the water looks blue because I came home and changed the water and put my plant food in it which makes it blue
I picked up a three drawer bin on wheels to send home with Sawyer’s Lego sorted in it. I then headed to the mall. I had woken up this morning, realizing that I hadn’t paid for my nails yesterday we got distracted with getting you the Rotary donations and taking a picture of them that I just walked out. Funny thing was they hadn’t even realized it yet and he appreciated me coming back. I made the rounds through Canadian tire and found cork on a roll that I was looking for and added it to my wish list and then cruised through the dollar store. There I found a banner, the exact size that I wanted for the one that I need to make. I was there on a mission to figure out how to put the lettering on that I wanted so I checked out Staples as well. At both places, I picked up two inexpensive types to have options while I think about it. And then I went to Fabricland where they had a very good deal on for international women’s day, and I had an extremely helpful person who found me the most perfect material that I will use to cover the banner and then put letters on it. It got me excited thinking about sewing again. I think that shall be tomorrow’s project.
Oddity at Staples
I am definitely heading to bed now. This is my normal time, but the spring ahead into daylight savings happens in the wee hours this night. There has been a lot of controversy about it because the premier announced that everyone on pacific time will be jumping ahead and then staying there forever, but those of us that are amount of time have to keep changing unless Alberta changes its mind. It will make things a bit confusing because at least right now I know who is an hour behind me, but for part of the year, we will be different. I don’t know worry about it when it happens.
I went and got pretty new nails at noon and then headed down the mall to Telus to arrange mom a new phone as she has an iPhone 6. Yes that’s right six. I upgraded her to a 16. I then went to her house and transferred her phone so it was mirrored and made sure that the phone worked etc. then went back to my office to wipe the old one which I had to figure out passwords for to do and then finally got that accomplished only to find out that her new phone couldn’t make calls because the eSIM was deactivated
So I got my work finished and then I headed to her place and while she was having dinner I called Telus and because I don’t have the power of attorney on file yet I was able with the help of a very outside the box thinking agent sign into Mom’s Telus online and then he talked me through activating the SIM in her new phone.
Once that was all set up. I went to superstore and used my points to buy a new winter coat for next year ingredients to make apples for Poker and a bunch of other things.
I came home and made meatballs in the oven and then put them into my little Star Wars crockpot and poured honey garlic, barbeque sauce over the top of them and took them to Poker night at Landon‘s
The night was a lot of fun with Cathy, Keon, Mike, Denis, Sandra, Jake, Stephanie, Landon, Galen, and I around the table . I was not in the money, but I did pretty good and had a nice time and I was one of the few people not to have to buy in again so it cost me $25 to play all evening and the meatballs were a huge hit
I found this in the parking stall next to mine. It had already been run over once, but the scars were only on the back.
Rotary was fun and Darby did a great job presenting about Cranbrook Archery.
I had much success back at the office getting things done and then went to F&B for dinner as it is Burger Month. A stack of restaurants are doing specialty burgers for $25 with $10 going to charity. I really enjoyed it especially because they left off the jalapeno peppers.
I did go to Encore for trivia to see if there was a team to join but ended up sitting at the bar having a hop water. Suddenly there was Jenny and Mike and we became Cliff Claven’s Know-It-Alls. We didn’t come in last but no where near first. They are great fun though
Jake has an NDA but he did call to let me know that he no longer works for LMG. I think this a good move and he is on a positive trajectory
I spent the morning running around, hitting up sponsors for the gala. Got started working around noon for money and then picked up Deanne at 5:40 to head to the library for a bedazzle book night. It was a lot of fun The Abhay’s were delicious and perfect having not had dinner. At our table was also a local artist Yvonne. People were very creative and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I have a bit of a headache from the glue, however.
This morning I started using the Better Me App. I did the 13 minute wall Pilates and have been tracking my food all day. It definitely is making me mindful again.
The provincial government announced today that after next Saturday when we change to daylight time, we will no longer change again in the province of BC. Of course, the fine print said that that only included people that are already on pacific time. Those of us on mountain time will be continuing to change to daylight savings. So annoying because that is going to make it even more challenging with knowing what time it is in the zone my clients are in around the province.
I enjoyed a nice dinner at home after a long day and then built Lego while watching Beast Videos
