Just another day in the life

10-31-26 Holy Crow What a Night!

November 1, 2026

Today was my slug day. I woke up when I was ready to. I sat and had coffee I watched shows and just relaxed. Tina got up at some point and did her thing and I made us a nice meal and then we went and dropped her van at her friends where she was going to a party afterwards tonight so that she had a safe place to sleep and then we headed to Fenwick and Baker and met with Nikki for a bit before heading over to the theater. It was all very relaxing, and I began to have feels about the show coming to an end.

I know from years of experience with it that a show creates a family and an almost false sense of closeness can develop, but I also know that over the years that I have gathered many very close friends from having been in shows with them and we continued relationship afterwards. I do hope that is the case with some of the people in this show.

In the end, we sold out nine of 10 shows, and they were only nine seats left for the last show which given that it was Halloween night, I consider a sellout as well.

We all did such a good job tonight. It was good to go out on a high. Of course, a very exciting part of it was that after the curtain call, I asked The audience to sit down again and bear with me as I had a story to tell. It made me laugh when somebody yelled out from the audience ‘anything for you, Marnée’. I told a little story about Amy asking Rory to be the producer and then telling him to be Harry in the show and how I wanted to bring out the woman who Rory would do anything for and then he proposed to her in the centre of the stage. It was a beautiful, beautiful moment there were many tears on stage and in the audience.

Once we were all out of costume and gathered our bits from the dressing room, we stood around in the kitchen and each told the secret underlying our character that Amy had asked us to find at the beginning of the runs. Each of us had interesting ones. Mine was that I had been a 37-year-old woman when I married Andrew and all I wanted was a child. I wanted to be a mom and found that I could not bear a child and was terribly disappointed that Lizzie wouldn’t let me be her mom and after 27 years of that I was bitter. A big surprise to the rest of us was that Michael had written a 3 1/2 page excerpts from Andrew Borden’s journal and had Jon read it out to all of us and we were all itching to get over to the Fenwick and have some food and beverages together. Bless his heart, he had the best of intentions.

It was a lovely gathering a mixture of cast and crew with a bunch of shared food and I had great conversations with Camille’s friend Leah. She’s a numerologist and she pretty much reinforced how my life is without knowing me at all. I look forward to talking to her more in the future.

At the end, it was Nikki, Tinna and I sitting there when Rob with the backyard Bar arrived and sat down and started chatting us up, but by then I was ready to come home as I didn’t want to have any more drinks and drive and Nikki was going to take Tinna up to the party. I know I will see them tomorrow for the strike, but it was hard to hug goodbye and I made sure that Tinna knew she is welcome at my place anytime.

I anticipate that this all being done will be hard as most endings are, but I do know that I’ve made new connections, and that some of us will work together again in the future.

Nikki gave us beautiful cards with pigeon key chains, Rory brought everyone homemade hot sauce, and a jar of homemade raspberry jam for me, Sandra also gave a beautiful card with a chocolate M in it. That was so sweet as she put a lot of work getting all of our hair and costumes, etc. done.
